- Unify all areas of occupational and technical education at the post-secondary level through a statewide professional organization.
- Promote interest in and concern for occupational and technical education as an integral part of the mission of community and technical colleges.
- Sponsor appropriate in-service training opportunities to members.
- Disseminate information about the purposes, needs and accomplishments of occupational-technical education in the state to local, state and national legislators.
- Promote cooperation among educational institutions, agencies, organizations and associations on matters of mutual concern pertaining to occupational-technical education.
- Communicate information about issues related to occupational and technical education to WAOE members, the general public and other constituent groups.
- Provide opportunities for members to contribute to local, state and national leadership in occupational and technical education through participation in association activities.
- Offer the association as a vehicle for contributing to research about occupational and technical education which could have statewide, regional or national significance.
